I liked Chiccy!

You know how I love to walk in streets, having a couple of coffees, chat with people. I was able to do it when I was in New York. It was possible to meet with new people and make a window shopping. One of the things which I like most is to talk with people who are in the shops. My favorites are those small  ones with a nice gift or where I can find printed dresses. Saturday when I was walking in Bağdat Caddesi I discovered a new , small and cute shop where you can find little gifts or  cute jewelleries which you don’t need to pay a lot , but still you can shop. This cute shop’s name is Chiccy where you can find Mine Pişkin’s designs. They are also  co- working with Markafoni and Trendyol. Here is some of the pictures of this little gift shop.

A big kiss to…

Today is my father’s birthday…I really don’t know how to  explain how much I love him…It’s not something that like girls love their dads but it’s more than it…

***

He is always one of  my best friends. He has listened to all my love affairs without getting bored. We sent each other  thousands of mails while I     was travelling around for five years. He showed me how to do strategy to  find my way. He is always cool and full of love, full of friendship and honesty…

He has never encouraged me for the things that I can’t, he always warned me about the guys who doesn’t love me actually… Sometimes I didn’t listen to him but I know he was right… I have never lied to him because I didn’t need to, I could do whatever I want, he has never showed a patriarchal pression, this is why I am so lucky too!

Today it’s his birthday, I know he doesn’t like big parties, celebrations but it  doesn’t mean he doesn’t like to hear few nice words from me for his birthday…

I wish you a wonderful year with full of books, travel and mornings with us… I’m pretty sure that you’ll publish gorgeous books and you will travel and will have a wonderful year!!!
Happy Birthday Daddy!!!
 We love you

A big kiss from Parfe too!

***

İşte tam da olaylardan canım sıkılmış, yarı üzgün, bol stresli ve motivasyonumun düştüğü bir anda, çok sevgili, yıllardır görüşmediğim Saint Benoit’dan lise arkadaşım Nilay’ın blogumla ilgili yazdığı  harika bir iki cümle düşüverdi mail kutuma. Şaşkınlıkla sevincimin birbirine girdiği bir an oldu Nilay’ın söylediklerini okuduğum an .

teyze

P.S: This post will be translated as soon as possible in English. Thanks for your understanding.

The Office…

Do you like your office life?

Most of the people started to work in the open offices which soemtimes make the day difficult. Too much voices, no privacy especially it’s hard while you’re working on articles. You can easily lose your motivation. However there are some ways to keep your concentration. I tried to put some objects on my desk which can give me motivation and inspiration. I have a frame with a New York Central Gare picture in it. White gives me the feeling of space and New York picture gives me hope.

Get over Monday Blues with pink!

Oh!!It’s Monday again!!

Don’t panic, I have a post for you which will help you  to calm  down and give some hopes. I’ll write to you about pink. This feminen color was used to calm even prisoners. According to the color psychologhy pink is intuitive and insightful, showing tenderness and kindness with its empathy and sensitivity. Pink is a sign of hope. It is a positive color inspiring warm and comforting feelings, a sense that everything will be okay which I believe in!

pinkcard
Pink calms and reassures our emotional energies, alleviating  feelings of anger, aggression, resentment, abandonment and neglect.  Studies have confirmed that exposure to large amounts of pink can have a calming effect on the nerves and create  physical weakness in people.  Violent and aggressive prisoners have been successfully calmed by placing them in a pink room for a specified  amount of time. However exposure for too long can have the opposite effect so just have few pink objects around you which will boost you hope especially for Monday blues!!

Voila some pink stuff around me!!

Have a wonderful Monday!!

Owl trend!

When I see an owl as a motif I remember our old summer house. I could hear owls’ sounds.

It was quite mysterious to hear them however I’ve have never been afraid of them. I don’t know if everyone has the same feelings and attachment with childhood houses but I have with my old house.

Our old summer house was a triplex house with a big garden full trees which we had  planted in those days.  I love and still love this house a lot….Whenever I pass by the house I think and feel that I can walk directly through the door as if it was our home.

Why I’m talking to you about owls is because they are trend of this year..And I love this wisdom bird..Here are some of my favorites..

New Year’s resolutions!!!

Guys!!I’m so sorry that I couldn’t write you for a while.. I started to work in a famous Turkish magazine’s website called Aktuel. I’m covering media, technology and fashion news. I adore what I’m doing but also I’m always superb busy!! Being an editor is fun job but also “the tough one“

As I mentioned you before the reason why I couldn’t write you is that  working until late hours but suddenly I realized that I should keep on writing my blog because I’m free in this sphere, this is my world. I feel relaxed while I’m writing to you..

New York Fashion Week, where to get your breakfast?

25 Mai 2012 537

For a while, every single night I have been dreaming to be in New York. I have many reasons why I would like to be there. As you know new season  has already opened and all the magazines’ September issues are thicker than Ulysses  and they are only talking about New Yorker designers and New York Fashion week. My subconscious is full of fashion week in New York but I’ve some other reasons to dream about that gorgeous city.

***

First: This is the unique city where I felt myself really free, detached from all my thoughts and felt powerful enough to create something and to be able rock my world!

Second: Streets are full of with people with their unique style, every style is respected by the others ( provided that  having a style) sometimes I felt that there was a competition to look more unexpected. Whatever you wear you can   have your compliments, people are open to say nice words and  encourage you.

Third: You are in the centre of the world. You can find all big events,   theatres, ballets, operas, museums, books. You can come across with Nobel   prized writers and movie starts with Oscar. And you can follow Fashion week!!!

***

I’ve one address which I had noted in my book. If you’re in New York and if you want to do something “hip”, you can have your breakfast  in Cafe Gitane located in Jane Hotel, overlooking the Hudson River.

Avocado toast is a gorgeous start for a morning with a mint tea  where you can come across with models, artists hanging out there talking about serious New York issue about fashion, theatres, politics!!I think this is a perfect address to get a breakfast, to feel an oriental breeze in New York. I feel lucky to have had an unforgettable morning with my super stylish friend Peri!!!

Don’t forget to eat between shows while you’re following New York fashion week! And even you don’t care about fashion just eat there an Avocado toast!

A New York feeling in Ayvalık: Mosantimetre!

Untitled

When I started to write this blog, my ultimate  motivation was to discover new people, clothes, boutiques, baking new recipes which I’ve never tried before and everything seems to be magical to me. Especially when I was walking in  New York streets, I felt as if I was walking in a dream. Everything  I’ve seen and touched was new, every street was another world, I was the happiest person ever, every morning I woke up with the hope to find out something which I can enjoy to share with you.

When I moved back to Istanbul, I’m afraid not to have the same motivation. However, I realized that Istanbul was becoming another land. Gentrification of some places have created new dwellers and still forming a new aspect of Istanbul. As you can imagine there are lots of new dwellers and they are very different from the old one. I feel  like a tourist . And Istanbul is not the only place where you can see the change.

***

Two days ago, I was walking in Ayvalik streets which is close to our summer-house. The streets where I was walking are very familiar to me. I know the boutiques, cafés, even people too. However I’m fascinated by a very unique boutique called Mosantimetre. You can find handmade porcelain with a surprising design.

Tulya Madra( designer and ceramic artist) and Firat Aykac (architect and designer)  founded the brand in 2005 in Ayvalik in an old building. I think what they create  is something impressive and inspired and give me a fresh feeling of creating something. I think when you see something unexpected,  you want to produce something similar when you fall in love.

***

I remembered my days in New York when I was walking in Brooklyn and Downtown streets. I was  full of curiosity and mostly was glad to find out something impressive. I’ve got the same feeling when I discovered this amazing boutique where you can find functional handmade porcelain objects like table top ware, lighting elements and jewelry.

There was something who seduced me a lot, the small window told me to come inside, my feelings were right because this boutique was also connected to New York. I was surprised because I know that New York is open to all different and open-minded ideas.

My favorite piece: Gorgeous turkish coffee pot ! It is made up of an olive tree’s branch.
